I have never done that. But it can be done. The shingles will act as a vapor hindrance not allowing the moisture out or in and that could cause a problem but I dought it.

Soldiers building cabins for vets

Armed with hammers and saws, the Minnesota National Guard in Little Falls have been made in recent days on a mission very different from their work last year in Iraq.

About 120 carpenters, electricians and plumbers of the 851st Vertical Engineer Company built three large "cabin" building in a disabled state Veterans Rest Camp in northern Washington County.

"Their last mission was to build combat outposts in Iraq," said Capt. Danelle Jones, the company commander.

Each building will house two cabins in wooded 69-acre camp, a destination for veterans seeking solace in the woods near Big Lake Marine glow. One of those veterans who have spent this week in a cabin completed last year - $ 375 for the week - was Louie McEvoy of Prior Lake, who came with his wife, Lois.
