Police shoot, wound 14-year-old wielding claw hammer in St. Paul

In St. Paul shot a police officer 14-year-old burglary suspect who was wielding a claw hammer end Monday.

Police said that around 11:30 h, they received a 911 call about a possible burglary in progress at Minnehaha groceries at Fairview and Minnehaha avenues.

The caller said the suspect wore a black bag, seems to be trying to force its way into the closed store.

When the police arrived and confronted the suspect, he threw the hammer to one of the officers, hitting the abdomen. The officer fired his weapon once, hitting the suspect on the side.

The suspect fled and was captured on a block. He was treated at the hospital and then booked regions in the prison of Ramsey County on the probable cause charges of burglary, assault in the second degree with a deadly weapon and fourth degree assault on an officer police.
