Question: We bought a house last year which had a beautiful fireplace gas vented. However, we were told he needed a new chimney. Because replacing the pipe was so expensive, we were told by people that we could close chimney stack and change to a set of ventless gas-log.
When I went to a gas fireplace store, they told us it was dangerous to ventless logs in a fireplace with the chimney closed and we would have to open the window slightly when using the ventless logs.
